LENDROIT invites artists to participate in an artistic and editorial project.
The accepted submissions will be on exhibition:
From September 12 to October 25, 2008 at LENDROIT Gallery in Rennes, France.
In addition, an edited book with be presented at ArtistBook International:
October 24-26, 2008 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France.
LENDROIT Gallery is a partner of the 2008 edition of ArtistBook International, where the common goal is “to bring visibility and accessibility to a production that demands a large amount of creation and artistic experimentation,” as explained by Nathalie Amae, director of the international salon of artists’ books.
LENDROIT Gallery, who for five years has invested in the promotion and diffusion of artists’ books, proposes an editorial project that pays tribute to the use of the book as an artistic medium.
The project BOOK - Is a Book Drawing by Numbers is made up of several stages in which the final product will be an edition of an artists’ book.
LENDROIT calls for submissions for a project that represents the book as fine art.
The original material produced by the selected artists will be exhibited at LENDROIT Gallery, so that the different stages of the project will be on view.
The collection of works will be presented in the artists’ book, BOOK - Is a Book Drawing by Numbers and will be exhibited at ArtistBook International, as well as LENDROIT Gallery.
LENDROIT Gallery hopes that this project will bring attention to artists’ books as both an experimental field and as accomplished productions.
